316 stainless steel provides superior corrosion resistance for use in a marine environment, chemical plants or where band may come in contact with corrosive chemicals. Of all the banding products commonly used for banding, Type 316 Stainless Steel is the most rust and corrosion resistant.
All of the 316 stainless steel banding we sell is tested to warrant that it meets ASTM-A666 standards including, but not limited to, chemical composition requirements of carbon, manganese, phosphorus, sulfur, silicon, chromium, nickel, tensile and break strengths.
Unique Quality Control
Each coil of band is stamped with a 4-digit code every 12 inches referencing the test results and verifying its authenticity and compliance with ASTM standards as well as serving as a handy measurement point. This process is unique from the manufacturer we purchase our stainless steel from.
316 Stainless Steel Overview
Stainless steel is the common name for a number of alloys that contain at least 10.5 to 11% chromium by mass. This particular mixture allows the metal to stand up to corrosion more effectively than normal steel. Although all stainless steel is more resilient than steel, there are different alloys and finishes available that make the metal more resistant to certain environments. Of the available alloys, 316 stainless steel is very resistant to corrosion, more so than the 304 alloy. It also has properties that make it very good for forming and welding.
